As they extinguished a big store and apartment fire, firefighters rescued many Puppies receive oxygen masks
At 05:20 BST, nine Norfolk Fire Service fire engines responded to the Northgate Street incident in Great Yarmouth.
According to reports, multiple people were rescued by making use of the stairs
However, one guy needed a ladder to escape an upper-floor window. Over time, the roof collapsed. Currently, no injuries are reported.
Great Yarmouth fire station manager Chris Harding-Hook said: “One of the flats had some puppies and we rescued those animals.
“Our appliances are equipped with special oxygen masks to administer oxygen and make sure their lungs are clean.”
He said the ambulance service was assisting firefighters in giving first aid to the animals.
People were evacuated from flats of the building and taken to a pub that opened to serve drinks.
According to him, “all right now – thank God” were the other pets that were saved from his apartment.
Canon Reverend “I was roused by the aroma of smoke so I rushed over immediately, precisely as the first fire engine was beginning its mission,” recounted Simon Ward, rector of Great Yarmouth.
“There was a gentleman at the top of the building and the fire brigade rescued him down a ladder and then other appliances and police arrived,” according to him.
“They have to work hard to bring it under control but are doing a fantastic job – and the community are all looking out for each other as well.”A number of residents lamented the fact that these structures had stood for centuries in the area, and it is tragic to watch such a long history destroyed by fire.
