Travelers’ bags discovered with human bodies near Clifton Suspension Bridge
The authorities launched a manhunt after discovering two bags of human bodies at Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge.
On Wednesday, around twelve minutes before midnight, a suspicious man was seen acting suspiciously on the bridge with luggage. The man had already escaped, leaving the bags behind, when the police finally arrived—less than ten minutes later.
A second luggage was found nearby not long after that.
The Avon and Somerset Police Department’s “immediate priority” was to find the person and positively identify the body parts, as stated by the station.
The initial investigation revealed that the individual was transported to the bridge in a taxi, according to the police department.
Officers have taken possession of the taxi driver’s vehicle, and the driver is currently assisting them.
While inspectors assess the area, the roads and walks near the bridge will be restricted. They will likely remain closed throughout the day.
On Wednesday night, the police chopper was followed as it flew over the bridge.
Traffic is being redirected away from the scene by the police officers stationed on the Suspension Bridge’s Bristol side.
Additionally, in order to facilitate the ongoing police investigation, the visitors centre has been closed.
Attendees at a press conference this afternoon should anticipate additional details from the police.
The individual who brought the suitcases to the bridge must be located, the bodies must be identified, and the next of kin must be informed, stated ActingBristol Commander Vicks Hayward-Melen.If they want any assistance, specialist cops are prepared to give it to them.
She went on to say that later on Thursday, a postmortem would be conducted.
Rep. Carla Denyer (Green, Bristol Central) has expressed her “deeply disturbed” reaction to the “horrifying” incidence.
On X, she stated: “Distressing events like this are unsettling for all of us who call Bristol home and are proud of our city.”
She acknowledged the promptness of the police and said she was in communication with them.
